Description: Inside the former Fire Control Bunker overlooking Sword Beach, the "Le Grand Bunker" museum is housed. Visitors can stroll around and find out what was crammed into a typical German bunker during WWII. The life-like dioramas scattered about the building give the place a real authentic atmosphere and the pictures on the walls provide an image of how things were when the bunker was still in use by the German coastal defence organisation.

A nice feature is the possibility to climb the ladder to the roof of the complex, which offers a nice view over the Channel coast and the mouth of the river Orne.

Entrance of the authentic observation bunker.

V1 and an M5A1 American Stuart tank outside the bunker.

Machinegunner defending the entrance

A couple of bunks situated in the bunker. The other troops were stationed in the confiscated houses around the bunker.

Armourer, repairing and maintaining weapons.

It is possible to get to the roof of the bunker (at your own risk!).

The splendid view over the harbour of Ouistreham.
